I truly believe that you study better in new places, so I recently made it my mission to spend my finals week in varying cafes in the city. It’s only day one, though, so we’ll see how much I’ll be able to move around, and clearly it isn’t working too well if all I’ve done all day is shop online and write new posts…. But my roommate and I left the room this morning to take the SEPTA ride to Northern Liberties to work in One Shot Cafe. It was only until we got here and fell in love with the space that we learned that the space was recently featured in Philly Mag as one of Philadelphia’s most spectacular interiors (photos from the article below). After we sat and worked away for a bit, we took a break to eat some food and realized that this place was just all around awesome.
Seriously, it was such a good choice. I’ve been to a few cafes around University and Center City, but Northern Liberties is where it’s at. Not only does the food taste fresh and light (the menu is amazing), but the wifi is awesome, their baked goods are labelled with cute tags, and there’s an upstairs working space with its own library. I mean…I’m sitting next to a vintage motorcycle right now, of all things.
My dash of salt: Even if you’re not coming for the amazing food, you should come for the homey vibe (it was once a lofthouse!) and relax. 4.5 out of 5. -S.
